ATRC is a private state-of-the-art R&D center owned and operated by Vector Health International (VHI), a 50-50 joint venture company between Sumitomo Chemical Company (SCC, Tokyo Japan), and Net Health, a member of the A to Z Group of Companies (NHL, Arusha Tanzania). The research center is located in Kisongo Arusha, just off the Arusha Dodoma road. This unique facility is the largest R&D center of its kind in East and Central Africa and is an expansion of the business relationship between A to Z Textile Mills Limited and SCC that commenced with the royalty-free Olyset technology transfer in 2003. ATRC has been in operation since June 2012 and focuses on research and development of innovative new public health (with focus on vector control) and agricultural products. ATRC serves as an innovation and R&D platform for sub-Saharan Africa and is strategically located next to the production facility, in order to develop new technologies which are readily transferred into manufacturing locally.
